Woodchuck (aka Groundhog): A large and stocky member of the marmot family. Active in the early morning and late afternoon and may be seen out sunning any time of the day. They climb well and will climb high in a tree to forage and to view its surroundings. They are solitary and will aggressively defend its burrow area. Like prairie dogs they will dig burrows with multiple openings. They will hibernate for 3-6 months depending on their latitude.
