Muskrats at Horicon Marsh NWR, WI





Muskrats swim with their head and back exposed using their partially webbed hind feet (Beavers swim with only their heads visible)




Muskrats are more buoyant than beavers













Two youngsters




They eat cattail roots and stems and they can close their lips behind their incisor teeth to harvest food underwater without taking in water.
