North Shore Beach, St Pete: 12-12-17

Marbled Godwits

These birds will often insert their entire bill into the mud and the head is completely submerged.

White Ibis

Heading into nearby Coffee Pot Bayou to Bird Island to roost for the night.

Sandwich Terns bathing

Black Skimmers, Forster’s Terns, Laughing Gulls, Ring-billed Gulls

One of only two birds whose lower bill is longer than it’s upper bill

Black-hooded Parakeet (aka Nanday Parakeet)

Fearing the birds may escape and become agricultural pests (which they have), the state of Tennessee has banned the keeping of this species.
