EUROPEAN STARLINGS: non-native invasive

Adult
It was a good year with the starlings not trying to take over any of the martin gourds.  We have the gourd openings made so the starlings won’t fit into the gourds but they are very aggressive birds and will attack and scare off the adult martins and/or will stab and kill the chicks when they get old enough and start hanging out in the gourd openings where the starlings can reach them (yesterday we watched sadly as a Fish Crow nabbed a chick who had ventured into the gourd opening.  It was so fast!)

Starlings are a large family with many handsome members, these we saw in Tanzania.
