Black-crowned Night-Heron
These birds make a characteristic loud, choking squawk
They tend to nest in groups that often include other species (like here on Bird Island), including herons, egrets and ibises.
A breeding Black-crown will brood any chick that is placed in its nest.
These herons apparently don't distinguish between their own offspring and nestlings from other parents.
Love that red eye!!!!!!!!!
