East Greenland: 9-17

Glaucous Gulls
By far the most common gull we saw
These large gulls are active predators at seabird nesting colonies. They will walk into colonies and take eggs and chicks left unprotected, and will also fly above a foraging Arctic Fox or even a person disturbing the colony and take chicks and chicks that are exposed during the disturbance.

Immature gulls move farther southward than adults so most individuals seen in the southern portion of the winter range are immatures.

Drying fish were a common site on sunny days

An Iceland beauty

Views often took our breath away making us feel how insignificant we really are in the grand scheme of things.

One of the main means of transportation on East Greenland
