Beginnings of an Osprey nest on the Scanning Tower
The lighthouse on the north end of the island is managed by the Coast Guard
Ospreys and other birds use the top of the lighthouse as a lookout perch
It was a breezy day
Lots of bait was keeping the attention of the birds
A Laughing Gull in winter, non-breeding plumage where it has lost the black feathers on its head
For comparison, these two adults in breeding plumage are doing a courtship display.
