Sweetwater Wetlands Park, Gainesville/Micanopy: 10-29-17

American Alligators

Eggs of the invasive, non-native Apple Snail

Limpkins eat these snails as the major part of their diet

Glossy Ibis

Unlike herons, ibises fly with their necks extended.

American populations of this species are thought to have come from Africa in the 19th Century and have spread northward via the Caribbean

Many species utilize these wetlands

Duh!
