Beach Nesting Bird Survey: Friday, April 14th at Ft Desoto




Female Red-breasted Mergansers


The Red-breasted Merganser breeds farther north and winters farther south than the other American mergansers.




The males and females probably tend to segregate in winter as "all" the mergansers we have seen this winter have been females.
