Whitefish Point, WI: 5-13-17

A Sharp-shinned Hawk between two Broad-winged Hawks

The only Broad-winged Hawk we saw that was not flying overhead

1,700 Broad-winged Hawks migrated over today

Broad-wing

Some Red-tailed Hawks, Sharp-shinned Hawks and Turkey Vultures joined the kettles

Male Brown-headed Cowbirds

Female Brown-headed Cowbirds
These birds are North America's most common "brood parasites."  A female cowbird makes no nest of her own, but instead lays her eggs in the nests of other bird species, who then raise the young cowbirds.

Hmmm!
