8-10-16: Anan Creek Bear Reserve, SE Alaska

Immature Bald Eagle

After those Omega-3's

This time of the year the bears are stuffing themselves with fish.  However, over the year 80% of their diet comes from plants such as fruits, nuts and berries, 15% from insects like termites, ants and bees, and the rest from meat.

The face of black bears is described as "full" with a Roman Nose as opposed to the face of a brown bear which is concave.

Ravens are one of the many animals that enjoy the salmon runs.

Tapeworms are very common and range from small

to much larger and longer.  We've seen some in the 50-60 foot range!
