Bird Survey, Sunday, April 9th: Miller Family Bird Colony Island



White Ibises flew over the island




Great Egrets flew from the island leaving to gather food



then returned to the island to feed their chicks



There were many Double-crested Cormorant nests on the island


Young cormorants were gulating ("panting") in the hot sun



Young Brown Pelican stretching its pouch to keep it pliable for its important functions



There were lots of young Great Blue Herons 






Many still on their nests










Adult Great Blue Heron preening
