Monk Parakeets
aka Quaker Parrots
These parakeets are the only member of the parrot family to build stick nests and to nest colonially.
The insulation these nests provide may be one reason why they are able to survive cold winters.
In their native Argentina, Monk Parakeets will sometimes adopt old nests of other species.
Swan Goose
These birds are a rare large goose with a natural breeding range in inland Mongolia, northernmost China, and southeastern Russia.
They are migratory and spend their winters mainly in central and eastern China.
