Mushrooms growing bear scat
Note all the plant matter this bear has been eating

Salmon heading upstream to spawn and die

Many fall prey to bears, eagles and ravens and more

When there are plenty of salmon and the bears aren't real hungry, they will usually just eat the skin, brains and roe for the high fat content.

What a set of teeth on the salmon

Devil's Club

Geranium

Common Murre
These birds can and will fly 120 miles or so from the nest to find food for their chicks, and may dive as deep as 60' for food.

Such a beautiful area

Sitka Black-tailed Deer
These deer are the most pursued big game species in Southeast Alaska.  In the 20 year span between 1987 and 2007 the average annual harvest was over 12,300 deer.

The diameter of this starfish is 18 inches
