Pack Creek: 7-26-16 and Endicott Arm: 7-27-16

More interesting happenings at Pack Creek on Admiralty Island

It was a windy day (and rained all day too) so it was exciting to watch the interactions between eagles and ravens

Bald Eagle

Coming in to try to take a salmon away from another eagle.  One wonders why as there are plenty of salmon around

Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier:  7-27-16
We did see 22 bird species that day as we headed into Endicott Arm toward Dawes Glacier.  It was still windy, rainy and got colder the closer we got to the ice.

The Brown Bear chased the Canada Geese into the water but didn't catch any

Crab Traps

Mew Gull
Although these birds are common along the Pacific Coast, they are a rarity in the East.  In fact, the birds we saw along the Atlantic Coast are likely birds from Europe.

Young Pigeon Guillemot

Love the red feet on the adult Pigeon Guillemot
