Male Red-bellied Woodpecker

Probing for insects under the bark

Eastern Phoebe

A very widespread range.  They nest all the way up through Canada and into the Arctic.

Its claim to fame is that in 1804 it became the first banded bird in all of North America.  John James Audubon attached a silver thread to an Eastern Phoebe's leg to track its return in successive years.

Our state bird, the Northern Mockingbird

White Squirrel eating Gallberry berries

The head patch is obvious.
