Hundreds of Bonaparte's Gulls bathe
in freshwater Morris Lake
Then fly over the dunes to preen on the beach and forage in the Gulf of Mexico
They gather on the beach
Some preen and some bathe in the freshwater outflow from the lake into the Gulf
The Bonaparte's Gull is the only gull that routinely nests in trees,
A contortionist? No. Just a preening gull
During the breeding season, these gulls feed mainly on insects, often catching them on the wing.
